Back in April of 2007 my father took me on an African hunting safari, it always was his lifelong dream to take me there on a hunting trip. We had an amazing time harvesting 11 animals in total from Red Hartebeest, Warthog, Kudu, Zebra, Gemsbuck, Blue Wildebeest, Impala, Blesbuck, and a rare Red Lechwe that my father harvested. It was absolutely an amazing trip and I will never forget it because it was the last hunting trip I did with my father. Unfortunately, in August of that same year my father passed away. He never got to see his animals mounted, what a shame. For my father taking me to Africa I wanted to thank him by making a coat for him from all of the animals we had harvested. I had saved the hides from the Kudu, the Blue Wildebeest, and the Gemsbuck. They have been sitting on my railing of my house for years as decoration because my idea had been crushed as a result of my father’s passing. A couple months ago I walked by them and had a brainstorm, Why not make the coat for myself as a tribute to my best friend, my father. So in turn, I met an amazing man named John Rezny, owner of York Furrier located in Elmhurst,IL. He assisted me greatly on this idea and said he would love to make the coat for me. For the next few months, myself, John and his tailor Wally (who by the way is an amazing tailor) worked on making this coat the best it can be. After a few months the coat was complete and words cannot explain how it made me feel upon completion. John and Wally, I cannot thank you enough for your amazing work on this wonderful coat. I will cherish it forever. My father’s legend will live through me forever. That is why I created GVK11 Outdoors. If you guys get a chance, stop by York Furrier in Elmhurst,IL on York Rd. The people are amazing, the craftsmanship is unheard of, and the atmosphere is great. I can honestly say I am so happy I met John and Wally, this coat will pass on to my son one day and the legacy will live on.
Great service and beautiful coats. They will take good care of you.
What an amazing experience buying a coat here! Definitely service is their top priority. The price is fair for all the service we got, they even included the tailoring. We looked around at a lot of furriers and none could compare to York. They also had leather coats, gloves, scarves, and hats. This is the place to go when you need fine “outer wear”. They offer it all.
The best furs and styles in town! Friendly atmosphere with the cutest marriage team as owners. They are one of the oldest establishments left in Elmhurst. Lots of care and knowledge goes into each fur. A great team that works in the back to do stitching and any alterations that are needed. So many furs and leathers to pick from and enjoy! Nice place for storage also. I have been going there for years and highly recommend this place. Once you go, you’ll keep coming back.
