Over the past few months we have been busy busy busy with two passions: philanthropy and fashion! Since 1931, York Furrier has proudly partnered with local philanthropics to assist with their fund raising endeavors. So, we are always looking for ways to give back to the community and have found that participating in fashion shows and charity events is the perfect means for helping. Here are several best-of runway looks and fun moments from a few of our most recent events.
Winter Wonderland Fashion Show
Back on a cold night in December at Medinah Banquets in Addison, we took part in the Saint Philip the Apostle Parent Association’s Winter Wonderland Fashion Show, complete with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and a raffle. The current and past presidents of the association, including: Julia Carreras, Mary McLaughlin, Mary Lou Loftus Costabile, Kelly Wagner and Anna Marie Ciccone, donned luxe furs and fine outerwear garments as they walked the runway for the York Furrier Holiday Glam segment of the show. And, one lucky winner went home with a York Furrier gift basket, which included a ranch mink trimmed velvet animal print scarf. So festive, so fun!
The Heart of Fashion Show
On Valentine’s Day evening at the Empress Banquets in Addison, the Ladies of the Elmhurst based Saint Demetrios Philoptochos Society presented their annual fashion show, The Heart of Fashion. The ZZAZZ Productions runway show featured professional models wearing clothing from Contessa Bottega, Mona Lisa Boutique, Talbots, custom-made accessories from Karian Jewelry Company, and gorgeous furs, stylish shearlings, chic cashmeres, and skiwear from the York Furrier 82nd Anniversary Collection. Pictured below, ZZAZZ models, Anthony and Cynovia exit the runway wearing M. Miller Skiwear which is manufactured in the U.S.A.
A Day at the Oscars for the 4oth Ward
On Sunday, February 16th at the Crystal Palace in Mt. Prospect, Alderman Patrick O’Connor hosted the 40th Ward’s annual luncheon fashion show fund raiser. This year’s theme, A Day at the Oscars, made for a room and runway filled with glitz and glam. Garments from both York Furrier store locations in the Elmhurst City Centre and the Deer Park Town Center made an appearance, along with designer gowns from Eva Pazola and Caroline Rose, as well as evening looks from other retailers White House Black Market, Hinsdale’s J. McLaughlin, Glenview’s Cenzina Originals, and Morton Grove’s Robin Elliott.
Pictured below from left to right: ZZAZZ model, Lisa, rocked a Robin Elliott gown and natural blue iris mink bolero by one of our favorite designers, Zandra Rhodes. Model, Crystelle, looked stunning in this white mink stole created by the one-and-only Zuki. While Caroline rocked this not so subtle Michael Kors designed “camo” mink wrap in bold cobalt blue, white and midnight.
Fenwick Mother’s Club Luncheon Fashion Show
On February 26th, we were delighted to be part of the Fenwick Mother’s Club Fashion Show and Luncheon at the Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook Terrace for a day of “boutique shopping, delectable dining and fantastic fashions.” Proceeds from the event benefited the Oak Park based Fenwick High School’s facilities and its students. Two runway favorites were this black Malan Breton ranch mink stroller with silver fox trim and this white mink flounce coat, also with silver fox trim – a York Furrier Signature Style!
