York Furrier: Charitable Support Throughout Chicago Area

We love being able to participate in many of the Chicago area special events, fashion shows and fund raisers each year. It's always a pleasure to present our furs, fine outerwear and accessories at Chicagoland's fashionable happenings in support of a philanthropic cause! The first quarter of 2016 has been an extremely busy one for York Furrier. From Ballrooms to Banquet Halls, our products have rocked the runway and graced auction tables throughout the Western Suburbs, Lake County, North Shore, and at some of Chicago's grandest hotels. Oak Park based Fenwick High School's Mother's Club hosted "Dancing with the Stars - Fenwick Style" on Thursday, February 18th at Drury Lane in Oak Brook. Co-chairs Suzanne Daly, Juliann Cronin and Marie Lillig put together a fantastic FUNdraiser. York Furrier donated a Norwegian fox trimmed cashmere cape (black and white houndstooth pattern for the Friars team colors!) for the grand raffle. Kudos to raffle chair Michele Moore for gathering all the great goodies for the raffle. The York Furrier runway segment featured school President, Father Richard Peddicord sporting a coyote trimmed ski jacket while the school's Director of Campus Ministry, Father Dennis Woerter, wore a natural coyote zip jacket with a matching coyote trooper hat. Club President, Sheila Reilly, looked elegant in a lynx trimmed sheared mink jacket. And, several school faculty members wore shearlings, leathers, cashmeres or furs from the York Furrier 84th Anniversary Collection. The Elmhurst Panhellenic women went "Wild For Fashion" at their annual fashion show held on Friday, February 19th at the River Forest Country Club. Organizational models wore fashions from Elmhurst area stores Enzee, Kie & Kate, RedE, VIP Occasions, and of course, York Furrier. Dan Gibbons (of the annual Turkey Trot fame) looked handsome in a shearling trimmed leather car coat with matching trooper hat. Group President, Lara Templeman, floated down the runway in a Helen Yarmak designed blush knit Finn raccoon evening coat. Member Lissa Parr was absolutely beautiful in a Norman Ambrose designed floral brocade evening coat trimmed with Russian sable. And couple, Glenn and Kim Sebesta, walked the runway wearing a Dominic Bellissimo designed cashmere blend overcoat for him and a Monique Lhuillier designed natural silver fox and ranch mink walking coat for her. This year's event topped both attendance and fund raising records for the group! ZZAZZ Productions produced an energetic runway show for the Chicago Dental Society on Friday, February 26th at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago. Highlights from the York Furrier segment featured Anthony Rago modeling styles from the store's Fine Outerwear Collection for Men: an Italian designed navy down jacket with shearling trim, a Loro Piano cashmere blend over coat, and an Ultralite lamb leather car coat with shearling trim. For the gals, runway faves were the Norman Ambrose designed chinchilla trimmed sheared mink evening coat and the York Signature Style chinchilla hooded jacket. Both chinchilla pieces were accessorized with Swarovski crystal embellished evening clutches. On Saturday March 5, 2016, the Choral Aires Chorus hosted a fashion show fundraiser at Drury Lane in Oak Brook. This year’s theme was “Swing into Spring.” ZZAZZ Productions' Tracey Tarantino commentated fashions by White House/Black Market and designer MJ Ernst. While Kathy Rezny of York Furrier shared the spring trends from York Furrier.

The audience cheered for colorful pieces like this Dominic Bellissimo purple shearling jacket (left) with multi-color fox trim, and the Dusty Rose rain silk blouson jacket that reverses to reveal a sheared and grooved fur coat (right).

That evening, Presence Health Foundation hosted their annual black tie fund raiser at Chicago’s Navy Pier in the Grand Ballroom. We were thrilled to partake in the event! This year’s theme was “Heroes Among Us.” The evening featured Ryan Baker (CBS 2 Chicago lead sports anchor) as Master of Ceremonies and Former Chicago Bears defensive end Israel Idonije as the night’s Honorary Chair Person. Also in attendance was the 1985 Super Bowl XX Chicago Bears’ “Danimal” #99 Dan Hampton. The NFL Hall of Famer and Pro Bowler posed for pics and even allowed guests to try on his massive Super Bowl ring! Lauren Rubinson-Morris, CEO of Skokie based MedEX Ambulance Service was a prominent event sponsor. The artwork of Chicago based Tony Fitzpatrick was a featured Silent Auction item, as well as York Furrier’s chocolate colored sheared beaver walking coat with detachable Norwegian fox trim.
