NY Fashion Week Gives Glimpse Into Spring! But First … Fall!

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week wrapped up last week in New York City, and the runways were chock-full of amazing looks for Spring 2015. This year’s event featured some younger, big-name faces (hello, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid) as many designers took an ultra girly-girl, feminine approach to fashion. Spoiler alert … we loved it! Pink, patterns, prints, pastels (which have stood the test of time over the past few years), playful sleeve lengths and more! Industry trend setter Michael Kors created a happy mood for spring style with crisp white blouses, belted waists, bold navy and bright marigold colors, along with some very pretty floral print dresses. Shown here at left, Kors’ fresh take on “long” sleeves - a three-quarter-length style on a button-down blouse paired with a sweet skirt. For you, we’ve listed a few of the best runway trends for Spring 2015.

Carolina Herrera, one of our favorite fur designers, wowed everyone as usual with her wearable, uber-chic, lady-like collection. Her spring looks included prints galore! Many of the patterns were geometric and floral-inspired without being too literal. Known for her detailed work, Herrera incorporated cut-outs, beading and embellishments on her stunning skirts and gowns. Silhouettes were created from flowing fabric with flirty above the knee lengths and attention grabbing cinched waists or graphic details.

Badgley Mischka, another fur favorite, presented several evening gowns designed to take feminine to a whole new level. Pale silvers, blues and pinks, sublime florals, flowing ruffles – everything fit for a princess yet designed with a real woman’s body in mind. We love the thought of paring this shimmery gown with one of the designer’s signature evening clutches. So much luxe!

Haute Looks for Fall Before we get too ahead of ourselves with next season’s Spring looks, let’s get excited about all of the New Arrivals now in-store for Fall/Winter. After all, we do have 80+ days of winter to get through first … but who’s counting?

Vested Interest: For Fall 14/Winter 15, fur vests are a MUST HAVE for a woman of any age or size. Long or cropped, in fluffy feathered fox or figure flattering sheared mink, in natural fur colors or vivid dyed bright colors, you will find a versatile vest to complement any outfit in your wardrobe. Throw on your favorite pair of jeans, some riding boots, a long sleeve t-shirt and a fur vest and you’re stylish for day; or pair with a cashmere sweater, straight skirt and tall leather boots for your evening out. Best of all, this wardrobe stable will transition your wardrobe from a crisp fall day, to cold winter weather, and still create a cool look for next spring. So, invest in a vest!

Necking: Scarves are another staple piece. Hot again this year is the fur infinity scarf. Depending on the material, this can be worn solo with a sweater or shirt, or of course, paired with a cashmere, leather or fur jacket or coat. Cashmere and chenille scarves will also always be in vogue (yes, you can quote us on that). Whether you simple drape around the neck, tie-one-on, or chicly wrap-up French style, this classic accessory always adds panache to any garment.

Glove it!: After last winter’s Polar Vortex, we’re all listening to the inner Mom in our head – bundle-up when you head outside into the frigid winter air. The dilemma, how do I look good while piling on the layers?!? Accessorize with this season’s gorgeous leather or practical shearling lamb gloves. Choose a bright red color, a pair of long opera gloves, or a cozy cashmere lined leather wrist length style. Long or short, protect your hands from the excessive cold and look stylish at the same time. For more designer inspiration, visit York Furrier’s Designer Creations page.
