Known for his classic American sportswear for women, Kors launched his first collection in 1981 with a handful of high-end retailers showcasing his line. He later added a menswear collection in 2002 and more moderately priced garment lines in 2004.
His fashion empire now includes ready-to-wear apparel, handbags, shoes, footwear, jeans and fine outerwear – shearlings and leathers. In addition, Kors appeared as a judge on the Emmy nominated television program, Project Runway, involves himself with numerous philanthropic organizations, and has won numerous accolades for his over 30 years as a designer.

2010 Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Kors is the youngest recipient ever of the award.
