York Furrier Brought Fab Fashions to the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Event at Drury Lane

On Saturday, May 18th, York Furrier, Inc., located in the Elmhurst City Centre, presented a gorgeous sampling of furs and fine outerwear for men and women at the Alpha Alpha Sigma Zeta Chapter’sluncheon fashion show. The inaugural event was themed “Touch of Pearls – An Afternoon of Fashion” and was held in the spacious ballroom at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The ladies of the Aurora based chapter, a few fraternity brothers, community leaders, and many guests enjoyed an afternoon of boutique shopping (kudos to Only One Boutique and Landis Make-up), took a chance on winning some wonderful raffle prizes, and were seated for a delicious lunch. The highlight of the afternoon was the fashion extravaganza featuring an eclectic array of on trend styles from: Afro-Delights, Polk Imports, TK Creations, and furs, fine outerwear and accessories from the York Furrier 88th Anniversary Collection. The show was produced by Dr. Patricia Williams-Polk of Polk Entertainment and included performances by extraordinarily talented singers, Andrew Johnston and “Chicago’s Tina Turner” the energetic, Dorothy Roerson.

Proceeds from the afternoon fund raiser will be used for community support initiatives to address the needs of local families, educational scholarships, and health awareness programs. Jenea Smith, the Chapter President, specifically mentioned several event beneficiaries: the Adopt-A-School Program, the Elder Care Initiative, Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel), and Get Engaged. She thanked event chairs, Mariah Jamison and Anna Willis-Jordan,and all those in attendance for their support and dedication to helping others.

With Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. celebrating the “Year of the Blue and White Family,” York Furrier, Inc. naturally opened the fashion show with a magnificent blue and white intarsia patterned mink walking coat with the “Starry Night” intarsia pattern. Model, Tanya Hill, paired the fab fur coat with a ranch mink hat, gloves, and carried a shimmery silver box clutch. Models Jocelyn and Gloria followed wearing a natural Black Platinum ranch mink coat paired with a detachable fox collar and a Zandra Rhodes designed royal blue mink hooded walking coat accessorized with a rainbow colored fox shoulder wrap/collar. Both models carried textured leather totes with fox fur purse charm/key chains attached. Next, the audience went wild when Soror Sharon Clermont (the chapter’s historian), rocked the runway wearing a York Furrier Signature Style midnight sheared mink hooded flounce with natural lynx trim. A bold animal print clutch complemented the shapely silhouette. Singer, Andrew Johnston, added “Model” to his resume wearing an oversize natural coyote zip jacket and a leather cross body bag. Other men’s pieces from the YF Fine Outerwear Collection included a lamb leather jacket paired with a natural red fox trooper hat worn by Stoney, and an Italian designed camel cashmere button-down coat paired with a chenille scarf and a leather travel backpack modeled by David. Along with the Swarovski crystal and Norwegian fox evening wrap, the YF spring collection leather toppers worn by Lisa and Sharon were a definite crowd favorite. Thanks to Flash by Henry Photography for the great pics.

Immediately following the York Furrier segment of the fashion show, Jenea Smith returned to the podium to pull the winning names for the York Furrier Grand Raffle prizes. Congratulations to Tonya Battle winner of the blue fur scarf and Cassandra Castro who won the YF $500.00 Shopping Spree!
