York Furrier presented Fur & Outerwear Fashion at The Society of Mannequins Annual Show
On Sunday, March 17th, York Furrier, Inc. located in the Elmhurst City Centre, showcased a small sampling of the store’s 87th Anniversary Collection of Furs, Fine Outerwear and Accessories at the 2019 “Fun, Fancy & Fabulous Fashions” show presented by The Society of Mannequins organization. The 19th annual Scholarship and Presentation Luncheon was held at Tuscany Fall Banquets and Events located in Mokena, IL. Over 700 guests enjoyed a fabulous meal; met the scholarship recipients; cheered for the ten 2019 honorees: Mayor Sheila Chalmers-Currin, Stephanie Coleman, Cassandra Taylor-Guy, Karla Harris-Lewis, Jacqueline James-Lewis, Donna Miller, T. Alexis Owens, Alderwoman Carrie M. Austin, Dominique Jordan Turner and Carol “Kay” Bell (who looked fabulous in a red dress accessorized with floral embellished opera red opera gloves!); and then stood to honor this year’s Woman of the Year recipient, Dr. Janice Jackson, CEO of Chicago Public Schools.

Founded in 1939 by Ms. Emma Beck, as The Association of Mannequins, the organization was re-established in 2000 as The Society of Mannequins to continue to provide students with essential financial assistance to pursue a college education, and, to acknowledge successful and fashionable African American women who serve as role models as well as outstanding leaders in their fields and communities – all while impeccably dressed and elegantly poised!

After the honorees received their awards, Ella Flagg-Dukes, owner of Chicago based, Ellana Boutique, began the fashion extravaganza by walking the runway in a flouncy red dress followed by colorful spring fashions. This being a Chicagoland spring (with snow still on the ground), York Furrier, Inc. presented a gorgeous selection of furs, fine outerwear and accessories. Crowd favorites included: a natural Platinum ranch mink full length coat accessorized with a tie-dyed patterned fox detachable collar and a cobalt blue jeweled evening clutch, a Cotton Candy colored cashmere zip-up cape with matching fox trim accessorized with Swarovski crystal bracelet evening bag, a York Signature Style natural dark mahogany mink walking coat accessorized with a fox trimmed animal print silk scarf and animal print clutch; and for the men in the audience, a selection of leathers (“Thanks!” for modeling Gregg H. Brown), shearlings and fur jackets – created from ranch mink, coyote, and a York Signature Style natural red fox jacket with matching trooper hat!

Immediately following the York Furrier segment of the fashion show, vivacious commentator, Deborah Kimball Crosslin, pulled the winning name of the $1000.00 York Furrier Shopping Spree. Congratulations to winner, Sandra Tracy, who teary eyed, shared that she has never won anything.
