Restyling & Upcycling: Furs, Shearlings & Leathers

York Furrier is no longer taking in new service work.

After 92 years in business, the doors to York Furrier will soon be permanently closed.

All storage garments, items in layaway, and service work items are required to be picked up now, and all balances need to be paid in full.

Whether you need a better fit, a repair, or a completely updated look, the on-site services provided by York Furrier’s knowledgeable craftsmen are unsurpassed.

The York Furrier Design Team is available during Service Hours to assist you with Restyling ideas to update your older fur garment:

  • Reduce shoulder fullness
  • Raise dolman armholes
  • Taper sleeves
  • Shear long hair fur garments to reduce weight and fullness
  • Convert a full length garment into a walking coat, or use as a liner for a rain coat or even transform a coat into a vest
  • Check-out the York Furrier New Arrivals section for restyle ideas
  • View actual Before/After photos below

For older fur garments, family heirlooms, or vintage shop finds, consider upcycling from a garment into fur home décor  – pillows, throws, floor or chair coverings; create fur accessories – earmuffs, a scarf, fur clutch, or add trim to boots or gloves; or transform your fur into a fur novelty item – mink teddy bear, a Christmas tree skirt, or perhaps a coat for your short-haired puppy!

The York Furrier staff will work with you to determine your needs and ensure that your fur or fine outerwear garments look spectacular on you.
